Handmade Fused Glass Sun Catcher - Chakra Butterflies
These Chakra Butterflies were designed because I love rainbow colours and like to have unusual chakra items in the Natroma shop. The butterflies flutter across each piece and have been laid out in the typical chakra colours (the base is red, moving through to oranges, yellows, greens, blue, amethyst and clear as the crown chakra) with small pieces of raised glass in between. Even if you're not into the chakras, the rainbow of colours looks attractive. Each sun catcher is handmade by me, and will be completely unique. We always have Chakra Butterfly sun catchers available for inspection in our Stourbridge shop. The images on this website have have been photographed inside against a white background with overhead lights, but the glass colours will vary on different computer screens. Each sun catcher will look brighter once it is hung in sunlight in a window, and the camera cannot capture the way that transparent fused glass glistens in sunlight.
You will receive a genuine 'one off ' sun catcher, so there will be subtle differences to the image shown on this page. The glass beads on each sun catcher may vary in colour and shape. I hope you enjoy owning these unique sun catchers or perhaps gifting them, as much as I enjoyed creating them.
Approximate Glass Size: 15cm (tall) x 4cm (width) x 0.5-1cm (depth) on a thread with beads (overall height of the hanging including the glass is 28cm).
Each sun catcher will be dispatched in an organza gift bag, wrapped in paper tissue to protect the glass during transit.
Natroma Fused Glass Designs are handmade by Sarah (Natroma's Founder). I enjoy being creative and working with my hands and originally began glass fusing in 2016 because I wanted to make unique glass soap dishes for my soaps. I've developed my experience and knowledge of working with glass in the kiln and now make a wider variety of fused glass items. I love the way fused glass sparkles and glistens when it's displayed in sunlight in the Natroma shop. My inspiration comes from holistic imagery and the natural beauty in my garden and local countryside.
I use a variety of transparent and opaque art glass to create my designs, and they look beautiful when hung in a bright window. I design each piece and cut my selected glass by hand. Sometimes I paint the glass with glass enamels, before adding more glass to add texture. Each design is fired in a kiln for up to 24 hours reaching temperatures of up to 800C, and I carefully control the firing process so the glass melts and forms a texture before it is slowly cooled. The final glass pieces are polished and the shiny glass surface is tactile, so you can run your fingers across the surface and feel the shape of the flowers, vegetation and insects. Each piece is finished by hand, and is threaded onto a strong nylon thread with faceted glass beads.
